Hometown Berlin

Right next to Zoologischer Garten station. The home of art and culture and now also the city’s largest outdoor atelier spread across 4,500 square metres: Hometown.Berlin

Hometown.Berlin is a science and future lab, open-air atelier and open space for creativity, partying and anything that artists and visitors make of it. While regular exhibitions take place during the day, the space opens up at night to celebrate art with a wide array of DJ line-ups.

The entrance to Hometown.Berlin was designed by artist collective RON MILLER and includes an oversized geisha head and 50 realistic security cameras for common social media channels. The mixed-media ‘I SEE YOU’ geisha was created on an approx. 5 x 5 m space over three days.

Wandelism e.V. is behind the project – Berlin’s creative answer to the negative impact of gentrification. The collective is fighting in the changing city for what politics is failing to take care of: to maintain lively and diverse art and culture in the centre of Berlin through interim property use, partnerships and unconventional ideas.
